About Dr. Townsend

Alicia Townsend, PhD, BCN is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Texas and is also Board Certified in Neurotherapy by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance. She combines compassion and empathy along with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other health and behavior interventions to help individuals improve their coping abilities as well as their physical and mental health.

Born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Dr. Townsend received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her PhD in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine at the University of North Texas. She completed her pre-doctoral internship work at the Cook Counseling Center at Virginia Tech. Her postdoctoral internships included the University of North Texas Neurotherapy Lab, the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and the Lawlis Peavey PsychoNeuroPlasticity Center. She has presented her research at state, national, and international professional conferences, and has lectured at the University of North Texas, the University of North Texas Health Science Center, and the Behavioral Medicine Foundation.

Dr. Townsend's training and experience includes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, relaxation techniques, Quantitative EEG recording and analysis, EEG and peripheral biofeedback, chronic pain management, sport psychology, and health psychology. She works with teens and adults in addressing issues of anxiety, panic, depression, chronic pain, headaches, dysautonomia, stress, and other psychological and health issues.
