Gunit Kahlon, MD, is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist at the practice of Dr. Messina & Associates in Southlake, Texas. She is committed to helping young people and their families cope with emotional and behavioral challenges through competent medication management and clinical care. She is also board-certified in adult psychiatry and specializes in ADHD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. 

Dr. Kahlon earned her Bachelor of Arts in history and minored in Spanish at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond. She completed medical school at St. Matthew’s University in the Cayman Islands and earned her Master’s in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at (VCU), and her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children in Richmond. From there, she became the Chief of Psychiatry at a community child psychiatry practice in Delaware. 

She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and licensed to practice in Virginia and Delaware. Dr. Kahlon stays current with the latest medical advancements and has given presentations on her research. She is also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

As a native of Houston, Texas, Dr. Kahlon recently moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She is an assistant professor at Texas Christian University and the University of North Texas Health Science Center. Also, she helps train psychiatry residents at a teaching hospital in Fort Worth and serves part-time with their child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient services.
