About Dr. Staal

Rosie Staal, PsyD is a warm and caring clinical psychologist who has been trained to use both cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as Interpersonal Therapy to help individuals improve their overall emotional well-being.  She works with children, adolescents, and adults with emotional and behavior problems at Dr. Messina & Associates in Southlake, Texas.

In clinical practice, Dr. Staal focuses on delivering evidence-based treatments, and she has experience working with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral concerns including depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, and trauma. In addition, Dr. Staal is also trained to provide services to individuals diagnosed with Autism or an Intellectual Disability.  She is also proficient in the use of psychological testing to clarify diagnoses and provide treatment recommendations across a broad range of psychological and developmental problems. Dr. Staal collaborates with psychiatrists, dieticians, and other professionals to ensure her patients receive the most appropriate care.

Dr. Staal earned her Doctorate in Psychology from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and is a Licensed Psychologist in Texas.  She is also the author of the DM-ID 2 Workbook, which is a tool that assists mental health providers to make an accurate mental health diagnosis in individuals with an intellectual disability. She has presented at numerous professional conferences around the country, and is the recipient of several awards in the professional practice and research of psychology.
